End of Life

Humane euthanasia is never an easy choice. We are grateful to be included in the process so we can give you the very best care and compassion needed during this delicate time. We are privileged to be able help you make this decision, and to ensure the procedure is pain-free and peaceful. You are provided with as much information and support as you need, starting from the discussion itself, to the time and day of booking, who to bring, what your options are for the remains, and even the kleenex to send you on your way home with. Your pet will never be left alone. We are comfortable with your decision to be present or not during the procedure. Either way, you can trust us to provide compassionate care.

Deciding what to do with the remains is a personal choice. There are a few options available. Depending on your municipality laws, you can take the remains home for burial. This may be difficult for some depending on weather or space. Your other option is cremation. We work with a wonderful company called Gateway Pet Memorial Services. This company provides outstanding compassion and reliability with exceptional care to our departed pets. They offer cremation services where you can get the ashes returned to you in a variety of beautiful urns, or communal cremation, where the ashes are not returned to you, but placed in their Pet Cemetery. Please visit their website to decide which option you are happiest with.

Sometimes simply saying goodbye is the last memory you want of your pet. In a communal cremation, your pet is gently placed in the crematorium together with other pets.

Upon the completion of the cremation, the communally cremated remains are removed and forwarded to one of Gateway’s pet cemeteries for internment in a communal burial plot.
