Since 2001, the Farley Foundation has assisted well over 7,000 low-income pet owners by subsidizing the non-elective veterinary care of their sick or injured pets. The Farley Foundation is a registered charity that assists people in need by subsidizing the cost of veterinary care for the pets that mean the world to them. Established by the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) in 2001, the Foundation assists people in need by subsidizing the cost of necessary (non-elective) veterinary care for the pets that mean the world to them. The Foundation currently serves only Ontario residents, however, there have been many requests to consider an expansion of the program to assist Canadians across Canada – a request that the Farley Foundation Board of Directors takes seriously but until now has had to decline due to concerns about the financial sustainability of such an endeavour. The Farley Foundation is generously administered by the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association. This relationship keeps the cost of administering the program to a minimum. The Foundation relies on donations to be able to provide funding to people and pets in need.
